9 Squares
The objective of this project was to show the use of repetition on a single design. The project is made up of a single repeated design mounted on 4″ x 4″ acrylic squares. The designed squares are in turn mounted to a large piece of black sheet metal with magnets. Using magnets allows each individual acrylic square to be moved and rotated freely adding a sense of interactivity and interchangeability to the final piece.
Variations on a Leaf
I spent some time going through some of my past projects and came across one of my favorites. It’s a piece called Variations on a Leaf. The objective of the project was to create a series of designs based on a single element, in my case a maple leaf. Once the original item was designed, it was to be cropped at different intervals to enhance different parts of the original element. Color was added to the final cropping to add another dimension to the design. The final designs were printed on ink jet photo paper and then mounted on black mat board. dimensions: 19.5″ x 14″.
