Wasatch Mountain Photography

When I was younger, I used to love looking through the pages of National Geographic Magazine.  The photography of far off, exotic lands and stories of adventures to places I’d never heard of  were inspiring to me. One day, while I was sitting in the local library, I came across a very memorable article that that was truly amazing.  In the February 1998 edition of National Geographic there was an article about a climbing team that was on an expedition in Antarctica attempting to climb some of the unclimbed granite spires in an area know as Queen Maud Land.  The expedition was covered by National Geographic photographer Gordon Wiltsie for the February 1998 cover story of the National Geographic.  Gordon’s photography was so incredible and the subject matter so beautiful that I decided then and there that I wanted to be a photographer and a climber.  I wanted to be able to capture images of beautiful places and show people small parts of the world that would inspire them in the same way that Gordon Wiltsie’s photography had inspired me.

I spent some time this weekend on a mountaineering trip here in the Wasatch Mountains. It’s admittedly not as exotic a local as Queen Maud Land in Antarctica, but the mountain range is still extremely rugged and beautiful. Relatively few people see these mountains from any place other than the floor of the Salt Lake Valley, even though there are over one million people living at their base. Sharing the views from on high with people who never knew something like this existed in their own backyard is rewarding for me and hopefully someday I might inspire people to see the views for themselves.

Great Salt Lake Train Car

A few months ago I spent an evening on the southern shores of the Great Salt lake taking some pictures as the sun went down. For one reason or another, I never got around to editing them.  Tonight, as I was browsing my files, I stumbled across this image and was really pleased with the way it turned out. The photo is is of an old train car that sits right on the shore of the Great Salt Lake near I-80 as you head west out of Salt Lake City. I have no idea why it’s there  or even how old it is, but it makes a great photography subject.

Bullfrog Spas Dealer Postcard

I designed this postcard the intent of giving our network of dealers a tool to help them market to their existing customer base. One of the biggest advantages to owning a Bullfrog Spa is the fact that they can be upgraded over time. This not only gives customers a huge advantage in owning a Bullfrog Spa, but it also offers dealers a tremendous opportunity for add-on sales and sales from aftermarket upgrades. With this in mind, I wanted to create something that our dealers could send to their customers to highlight this unique benefit for their customers and help the dealer increase their return visits. Specs: 4″ x 6″.
